The Channel of Community (37-40)

The deal that sustains community. The Channel of Community connects Gate 37 in the Solar Plexus Center — the gate of the family, of friendship, of the bargain of tribal bonding, of sustenance and loyalty offered in exchange for commitment — to Gate 40 in the Heart Center, the gate of deliverance, of aloneness, of willpower earned through work and rest, of the boundary between community and self. This Tribal Ego channel is the fundamental exchange that makes community possible: Gate 37 offers friendship, nourishment, and belonging in exchange for commitment; Gate 40 provides the willpower and the work in exchange for the belonging and sustenance Gate 37 offers. Ra Uru Hu described this as "the deal" — the most basic social contract of human community: I will work if you will nourish me; I will nourish you if you will work.

When defined, the person is deeply invested in the integrity of the tribal deal. They are here to make agreements — and to keep them — and to receive in return what has been offered. Gate 37's emotional warmth and family orientation make these agreements feel personal and binding; Gate 40's willpower provides the actual energy to fulfill the work side of the bargain. Ra Uru Hu noted that Gate 40 is perhaps the most important gate for understanding why the Heart Center is not designed for perpetual output: Gate 40 insists on the right to rest, to be alone, to replenish — precisely because the willpower it contributes to the tribal deal is real and costly.

The keynote is the sanctity of the tribal agreement. The not-self challenge is making commitments that are not honored — either side of the deal failing — which destroys the community the channel is designed to sustain. The gift is a quality of community-building through genuine exchange: when the deal is made clearly and honored faithfully, the 37-40 creates the conditions for genuine tribal warmth, mutual support, and sustainable collective life.

This channel can be created electromagnetically between two people. If one person has Gate 37 defined in their design and another has Gate 40 defined (or vice versa), they complete this channel together — creating consistent The Channel of Community energy between them.
